LEARNING STRATEGY TRAINING
INTRODUCTION
Learning
strategy is the specific actions to make the students better in learning a
second language
Learning Strategy
Training is based on problems students encounter in the process of learning
target language
According to
Rubin, good languages learners are willing and accurate guessers who have a
strong desire to communicate, and will attempt to do so even at the risk of
appearing foolish.
These
problems are needed to be solved for an effective learning.
First ,students are given the strategy and than they are expected to apply
it.
Learning
Strategy Training focuses on learner training as much as language teaching.
Students should
be responsible for their own learning.
They should follow their learning process and be
aware of their deficient and efficient sides. They should also
monitor their selves and identify what they need.
The teacher helps them to facilitate their learning
and to be more effective in learning the target language. After the students
get some learning strategies, they have a
cognition about
them.
The Teacher’s role
The teacher decides to have the student work on the strategy of advanced
organization
The teacher
models the use of the strategy using a think-aloud demonstration
The teacher’s
job is not only to teach language, but to teach learning
The teacher ask the student to try out the new strategy on a different
reading they choose for homework.
guess the
answer from the context rather than giving the answer directly
The teacher
emboldens them they will achieve their difficulties over time using the
strategy.
The Student’s role
Studying
certain learning strategies will contribute to academic success
For many
students, strategies have to be learned.
Students need
to become independent, self-regulated learners. Self-assessment contributes to learner
autonomy
The student practice the new learning strategy
The students evaluate their own success in
learning the strategy.
CONCLUSION
Learning strategy training is the specific actions to make the students
better in learning a second language. It suggests that teachers should elicit
the problems of the students and try to develop a solution for them. Learning
Strategy Training is based on problems students encounter in the process of
learning target language. In this method the teacher helps student learn how to
learn more effectively.
